First Steps
As a Bot you will discover a wacky, futuristic world on a distant planet and will test your mettle in the arena against other Bots in order to survive on the wildly entertaining planet of CENTERRA. This guide will show you some of the basics of the game in further detail and give you a head start on playing RoboManiac – enjoy! :)
MY BOT » OVERVIEW
Right after logging in you’ll be shown the most important info about your Bot.
Your Bot‘s Base Values (MouseOver = Details)
Bot-Level, B.M.I. (Bot-Mass-Index = Avg. Value to quickly compare two Bots) and average condition of your Bot Parts (Items)
Overview of equipped items
Your Power Cell as well as your Drone and Booster
Your Logbook keeps you informed of all important events
The goal of RoboManiac is to earn valuable resources from exciting missions and challenging duels, to turn your Bot into a true arena champion from winning in the daily league fights, and to earn promotion to the higher levels of the official Robot League.
The five attributes ENERGY, A.I. (Artificial Intelligence), MOJO, STRENGTH und AGILITY are the keys to success. Using these attributes a Bot can pursue a specific strategy. Increasing them will in particular raise the fighting ability of your Bot.
ENERGY determines how much damage your Bot can take before it has to give up a fight. For each point of Energy your Bot will get 10 Fight Energy.
The more A.I. a Bot has, the likelier it is that its attacks will hit their opponent. On top of that, this value determines the efficiency of an opponent’s armor.
MOJO determines who will attack first and the likelihood of landing a critical hit, which cause double damage.
STRENGTH increases the damage your Bot does when landing a blow. In addition, Strength also increases your Bot’s armor, so you take less damage from enemy blows.
AGILITY determines how well your Bot can dodge attacks. Agility also improves your speed, allowing you to perform more attacks than your enemy.
After we take a look at your Bot’s values, we should find some equipment for your Bot to improve these values.
TRADE » JUNKYARD ... or: Scrappy – probably the last human on Centerra…
Here we see the game’s first trading platform. At Scrappy’s, you can buy better Bot Parts to upgrade your Bot, or get rid of your old junk.
Scrappy‘s Offerings: Drag items from here to the sales platform in the middle of the screen to negotiate.
Scrappy‘s Mood: The probability that you’ll get a better price by negotiating. Beware and don’t overdo it though ... Scrappy’s patience is limited.
An overview of your Bot‘s Equipment.
Your Inventory: Drag items from here to the platform if you want to sell them.
Acquire your first Bot Parts from the Junkyard!
Bot Parts (Items) on Centerra are paid for with Credits. You can negotiate the price with Scrappy but be careful! He can ban you from his store temporarily if he thinks you’re trying to rip him off.
When you find an item that you want for your Bot, drag it onto the trade platform to negotiate the price. When you purchase an item from Scrappy, you can equip your bot with it in the Workshop.
Tip: Take a look (with MouseOver or Finger-Tab) at the items before buying them. You’ll see which attributes they’ll increase. Besides that, all items have a certain durability. This durability decreases when fighting. If the value drops below 10%, the item will no longer function at full capacity. But don’t worry, items can be repaired or upgraded in your Workshop. Item maintenance and optimization is an important and ever-present part of the game.
Later on, items will also have a rarity rating: The higher the rating, the better the item.
MY BOT » WORKSHOP
In your Workshop you can repair, improve, and equip Bot Parts (items).
Workbench: Place items here that you want to repair, upgrade, or equip with a Fusion Chip. Fusion Chips are placed in the field next to the Workbench.
The Workbench control panel showing all Workshop functions.
In your Inventory you’ll see all items you own, but which aren’t equipped.
Your Bot: Swap out an item by dragging it to the appropriate position.
Your Bot‘s values. Here you see how your Bot’s values change when you equip a new item.
The parts you bought from Scrappy are now in your Inventory. Drag the item onto your Bot. The item will be equipped and your Bot’s attributes will improve.
If the durability is too low (Tip: not below 10%) you should consider repairing the item. Drag the item on to your Workbench and click Repair. Before repairing it you’ll see the Uridium and Credit repair costs.
Tip: Upgrades and Fusion Chip improvements can also be done on the Workbench. This process requires - depending on the item’s class – a certain amount of Uridium and time. So consider carefully when you want to perform a repair or an upgrade.
ARENA » DUEL
Here you can battle other players in street fights and earn Credits and Experience Points. Bots from your own league and your friend’s list are possible opponents.
A Duel costs 2 Action Points (AP). Every full hour 1 AP regenerates automatically, your AP are shown in blue on the upper right. Select a worthy opponent from the list and try your luck. Occasionally the prizes will even include the highly sought-after Fusion Chips!
Tip: When you collect enough Experience Points your Bot will level up and receive various rewards! It makes sense to raise your maximum Action Points early, so you can collect them and decide on your own when to use them.
THE FIGHT SIMULATION
No holds barred here ... two Bots fighting to prove who’s built to last ;-)
The Bots’ Values (Attributes).
Fight Points: For each third of Fight Energy removed, one point is awarded. These are important for League Fights and table standings, and determine how many Experience Points you’ll receive for a fight.
The Bot’s Energy-Display.
The Fight Log shows what’s currently going on in the fight.
The fight will continue until one of the two Bots has run out of Fight Energy. Points are awarded by the amount of damage done to the opponent. For each third of an opponent’s Fight Energy a Bot will receive a Fight Point. If a Bot wins a match without taking a scratch, they’ll receive a Bonus Point and win the match 4 : 0.
ARENA » LEAGUE
… welcome to Centerra’s official Robot Fight League!
The Centerra Fight League is – besides your Bot’s equipment – one of the most important areas of ROBOMANIAC, if not THE most important. Here, your Bot will fight daily for fame and glory: Every night at 3:33 the League Fights are carried out automatically, and you don’t need to be there. The next day you can view the replay of your League Fight and then upgrade or configure your Bot.
The League Fights determine which place you hold in the League Table standings. Check out your current position in the League Table under “League“, and take a look at your next opponent ... always prepare well for your fights.
League selection. Usually your own League is selected.
Option menu: Table, Fight Schedule, Statistics, COM-SYS-CHAT, and AWARDS.
The current Table shows your points and who you’ve fought against already.
Tip: A MouseOver (or Finger-Tab) on the name of a Bot will show further details and a click will open the profile page of a Bot.
HABITAT » JOB CENTER
Your Bot can make itself useful to the Habitat and earn valuable Credits or Uridium in the process. The Job Center will show you a variety of available jobs.
You’ll be paid by the hour and can work as many hours as your Work Level allows. You can turn down a job if it doesn’t pay enough. But if you turn down all the offers, you’ll need to wait some time until new jobs are available.
Tip: For every job your Bot finishes, their Work Level will increase by +1. However it will also decrease by -1, if your Bot is feeling lazy and skips a day… so send it to work regularly.
Extra Tip: While you‘re working, you can’t really fight any duels and complete any missions. So it makes sense to send your Bot to work when you’re away, at night for example. But there’s a trick: You can secretly sneak off from work to go duel or go on missions… or bribe your boss!
THE HELPER DRONE „DR.ONE“ AND THE QUESTBOOK
Dr.One is your very own Helper Drone! You’ve already met during the tutorial. Dr.One doesn’t just happily share its wisdom with you though, it also constantly has new, exciting tasks (Quests) for you to accomplish, for which you’ll be handsomely rewarded.
You can see these tasks in the Questbook. To open it click on Dr.One on the right hand side.
Episode I: „LEAGUE LICENSE“ A handful of quests for newbies to take their first steps in the game.
Episode II: „THE AWAKENING“ Approximately 50 Quests that playfully or casually introduce players to the important finer points of RoboManiac.
Episode III: „IT'S A BOT YOU“ Over 70 Quests, lots of puzzling story activities with great rewards for experience players.
Episode IV: “HEART OF GOLD“ Numerous long quests, tasks, and Awards for CENTERRA’S true hero Bots!
Tip: Besides quests, the Questbook will also show the Rules with lots of useful Help-Pages and Links.
TIPS & TRICKS
Info Icons: On the left you’ll often notice icons that signal, among many other things, that you Bot still has an item on the Workbench or is busy, or if their Job is completed, for example. It’s worth keeping an eye on these icons. Clicking on any of these will direct you to the corresponding game area.
Fullscreen: On the bottom right there’s a button for „Fullscreen“, for a better game view.
Sound: Also on the bottom right is a „Loudspeaker“ icon, where you can toggle the sound effects and background music.
Settings / own Avatar Pic: On the bottom right there’s a “Settings“ button. From there you can upload your own Avatar Pic, which will then be shown everywhere in the game, or turn notifications on and off, among other things.
Chocolates and such?!?... Every now and then you’ll find some very interesting items, including boxes of Chocolates. Use these sweet treats to increase Scrappy’s willingness to negotiate. Or use them to get Scrappy to reopen his store to you. Who knows what else is out there to discover...
How do I earn Credits? The virtual gold coins are received from Duels, Missions, and Level Up rewards. You can also earn Credits from the Job Center, by completing assignments there.
Where can I find Uridium? Uridium is a rare resource. You’ll need it for repairs or upgrades, for example. You can get Uridium from a few places, such as logging in every day, Ore Mine missions, Level Up rewards, finishing special jobs and occasionally from fights.
How do I get Platinum? Platinum is created at the Power Plant. You can buy it there. You’ll also occasionally receive Platinum from any activity.
This is only the beginning…
These were the game’s standard functions. Later on during the game you’ll come across lots of other functions, like:
Config-O-Matic: A fine invention. Used to adjust your Bot’s abilities.
Research Lab: Your own laboratory, where you can unlock permanent improvements to your Bot.
Auction House: A complete trading platform, similar to eBay, where players can auction all sorts of items from other players.
Bot Gang: Cooperatively build a gang camp and engage in gang fights
… and many more – welcome to the Bot World of RoboManiac!
